Watermelon: Green on the Outside, Red on the Inside

I recently found this. I would definitely like to read more of her work.

The late Natalie Grant Wraga once wrote, "Protection of the environment has become the principal tool for attack against the West and all it stands for. Protection of the environment may be used as a pretext to adopt a series of measures designed to undermine the industrial base of developed nations. It may also serve to introduce malaise by lowering their standard of living and implanting communist values."
And who was this person?
Natalie Grant Wraga (who died in 2002 at age 101) was an internationally-recognized expert on the art of disinformation. In her Washington Postobituary, Herbert Romerstein — veteran intelligence expert in the legislative and executive branches of government — described Grant/Wraga as "one of our leading authorities" on Soviet deceit.
In a 1998 article appearing in Investors Business Daily (IBD), reporter John Berlau wrote that some of the most respected scholars on Soviet Intelligence have credited this woman with teaching them how to penetrate desinformatzia, Moscow's term for its ongoing operation to deceive foreign governments.
John Dziak — onetime senior intelligence officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) — is quoted by IBD as saying were it not "for someone like Natalie, we would have had more failures, and the Soviets would have had more successes."

The Socialist and anti-Semitic Roots of the Occupy Wall Street Movement

The Occupy Wall Street movement celebrated its one year anniversary this past September 17 2012. Its influence has waned and has all but vanished from the newspapers. Some characterized it as a grass roots protest against Wall Street bail outs and corporate corruption. Others, to the right of center, depicted it as a bunch of liberal moochers asking for handouts. It gained popularity among some notable celebrities, but that soon dissipated save for the hardest of leftists, once stories of violence and vandalism started hitting local airwaves in the Western and warmer climates. Oakland comes to mind. Allegations of anti-Semitism and Socialist undertones were dampened by most media. To most Americans it was simply brushed off as an out pouring of frustration and its darker elements a concoction of the right-wing as a means to discredit the movement as many had tried, and in many cases succeeded, to paint the Tea Party as an extreme element of the Republican party out of touch with mainstream America. Occupy Wall Street did after all embody the notion of "we are the 99%." Well just who are these 99%? A study by the Baruch College of Public Affairs found that 27.3% identified themselves as Democrats, 2.4% Republicans and a whopping 70% as "independents. Another study by Fordham University found 25% were Democrat, 2% Republican, 11% Socialist, 11% Green, 0% Tea Party, 12% other and 39% not affiliating with any political party These polls were taken earlier on before things really kicked into high gear and the media began to whitewash rampant anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism, anti-Capitalism and anti just about everything. Surely, it started out as a grass roots effort and got hijacked by fringe elements, right? Wrong. First let's take a look at who started it all with Ad Busters, a left-wing, Canadian magazine that criticizes all things corporate and has had two major snafus with incidences involving perceived anti-semitism. It began over a steak dinner:

Robert Halper is a retired Wall Street trader and the top single donor to the Canadian “anticorporate” magazine Adbusters, credited with launching the leftist sit-in. But Goodman didn’t mention the magazine’s incendiary anti-Israel past, like the paper’s notorious 2004 attack on neo-conservatives, “Why Won’t Anyone Say They Are Jewish?”
Mr. Halper said he first heard about the plan for protests in June when he visited Kalle Lasn, the editor in chief of Adbusters, a Canadian anticorporate magazine, in Vancouver. Over a steak dinner, the two longtime friends discussed Mr. Lasn’s project, a plan to fill Wall Street with protesters as a way to galvanize anger on the political left into a revolutionary movement resembling the Arab Spring.

Here's a take by a blogger on how easy it was to find anti-Semites associated with Ad Busters:

Shoot, finding anti-Semitism at Adbusters is like taking candy from a baby. Checking Moynihan's references gives you an idea, for example, 9/11 truther Kathleen Christison "Elliott Abrams, Dual Loyalist and Neocon Extraordinaire." And she's a fan of rabid anti-Semite Gilad Atzmon. See Kathleen Christison, "Gilad Atzmon on Jewish Identity Politics: Calling Out the Tribalists," at the hardline communist website Counterpunch and cross-posted to Aztmon's blog.
And again, the fact that Occupy Wall Street gets the epic whitewash from MSM outlets is pretty astonishing. But it's an upside-down world, so you gotta keep fighting these criminal asshats.

And then there's this:

But Lasn also has defenders, including David Duke, who published this sympathetic essay by Jeff Gates on his website:
Kalle Lasn, founding editor of Adbusters, is a graphic artist who eventually awoke to the harm he was doing as an advertising executive. An Estonian, he saw firsthand how the Soviets exerted virtual control by manipulating the mental environment. In March 2004, Lasn published an article in Adbusters pointing out that, whereas less than two percent of Americans are Jewish, 26 of the top 50 neoconservatives advocating war in Iraq are Jewish (52 percent).

Surely I must be just cherry picking comments here and there and leaping to wild conclusions. If only that were true. The truth is in fact much worse than it sounds. This is where we get to the root of the problem: virulent anti-Americanism mixed with leftist ideologies of neo-antisemitism and anti-Capitalism on US university campuses. The rates of anti-Semitism reports on campuses warranted a lengthy study by the College of William and Mary on this very problem:

The recent increase in campus Anti-Semitism has been closely associated with increasing anti-Zionist sentiments and with liberal or left-wing elements at many American universities.

And on page 13...

…many progressives have found common cause with Arab and Muslim anti-Zionists, however “illiberal” those groups may be, based on shared anti-American and anti-capitalist convictions along with the belief that Palestinian Arabs are the underdog in their conflict with Israel.
What this signifies is that anti-Semitism, sometimes masked as anti-Zionism, is likely a byproduct of leftist professors assault on capitalism and neo-conservatives, writ large. Jews are being singled out as the one minority group that is ok to dislike. Drunken comments

Russia Today

Arun Gupta claiming that anti-semitism he has seen is from right wingers and they are just trying to fear monger.

So Cohen admits that he doesn't know what OWS is about....yet he says it in not anti-Semitic. If he doesn't know what they are about, how can he be so sure?

Nearly half of the students interviewed for the study – 43% – reported that anti-Semitism is a problem at their schools. The authors acknowledge this is a “shockingly high” level.

Cynthia McKinney Goes to Iran and Libya... To Bash America

In an interview with Iranian Television, former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney claims that the American authorities killed JFK, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr. She is a classic example of a useful idiot who continues to witting or unwittingly push Cold War era covert influence themes:

Cynthia McKinney: So what I would say since the United States is, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, is the greatest purveyor of violence on the planet and sadly suffers with guided missiles and misguided men. I would say that those who have worked very hard for peace, there was a time when we almost won. We almost won in the 1960’s but unfortunately because we were so close to winning the authorities fought back. We were so close to winning, and then they killed John Kennedy our president, they killed Malcolm X, they killed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Iranian Host: They were killed by the authorities?
Cynthia McKinney: Yes
Iranian Host: Ok
Cynthia McKinney: Yes, um... this is all documented. Um... The CoIntelPro Papers, the Counterintelligence Program Papers document the history of US Government, uh how can I say, efforts to quash dissent and in the founding document which was written April 4 1967,  the US Government said they wanted to misdirect or otherwise neutralize certain leaders in the Black Community, the Latino Community, the Mexican-American Community the Puerto Rican Independence Movement, the American Indian Movement, all these various organizations, you could say they were liberation organizations, they all came together in the 1960s and 70’s... the people who want to deny human rights, human dignity, the warmongers; their revolution is always financed. So, if we could organize in such a way so that we could bring back the spirit of resistance inside the United States that we once had; organize it, finance it mobilize it, I think we’d go a long way to having peace.
Iranian Host: Definitely

First of all, the assertion by Ms. McKinney that U.S. Authorities “killed” any of these men is simply ridiculous. Worse yet is that she was spewing this garbage in Iran of all places.  So what exactly are the CoIntelPro Papers? A simple Google search will yield plenty of results. One of which is a book written by none other than Ward Churchill called The COINTELPRO Papers: Documents from the FBI's Secret Wars Against Dissent in the United States. For those of you who don’t remember, Ward Churchill is the angry, fake Native American who wrote about America’s “chickens coming home to roost” shortly after the tragic events of 9/11. Oh yes almost forgot, Ward was found guilty of plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification in various written works concerning Native American history. Documented indeed.

To Russia with Love...

While not technically a KGB Cold War operation, it might as well be. The service is the same, just with a different name. What is truly shocking about this whole case is that most Americans are actually surprised that there are Russian spies in America. There is no doubt that there are many more "illegals" here, some of whom I would imagine are working to influence our media, thereby policies and world opinion. Vicky Pelaez, one of the ten, is Peruvian but paid by the Russians. It should come as no surprise that the Russians would go to lengths to recruit a non-Russian asset to influence media with her extreme-left, pro-Communist ideology. Then again, they need not look far to find willing participants...

(Reuters) - Ten people pleaded guilty on Thursday to being agents for Russia while living undercover in the United States as part of a spy swap between the U.S. and Russian governments that revived Cold War-era intrigue.

The suspects agreed in court to be deported to Russia. In turn, Russia agreed to release four people imprisoned for suspected contact with Western intelligence agencies, the U.S. Justice Department said.

The swap helped resolve a scandal that threatened to strain U.S.-Russian relations and revealed shocking details about 10 people living double lives as ordinary citizens while trying to infiltrate U.S. policymaking circles.

Such swaps are not unprecedented but were more a fixture of the Cold War, when the United States and the former Soviet Union were sworn enemies competing for world domination.

Both the Kremlin and the administration of President Barack Obama sought to prevent the arrests from affecting relations that had been improving after hitting lows with Russia's 2008 war against Georgia.

Obama, who hosted Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the White House last month, needs Moscow's help for efforts to rein in Iran's nuclear program and keep supply lines open for the war in Afghanistan. Russia wants U.S. support to gain entry to the World Trade Organization.

Obama "was fully informed" about the swap and endorsed it, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said on the "PBS NewsHour" program, stressing that the case was pursued by intelligence and law enforcement officials.

Some of the suspects were shown on NBC television boarding a Vision Airlines jet at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Thursday night, and footage from Reuters Television later showed the plane taking off.

Neither the U.S. State Department or the U.S. Department of Justice would comment on the reports.

FALSE NAMES

Five of the suspects revealed their real names for the first time publicly and all but one -- Peruvian journalist Vicky Pelaez -- said they were Russian citizens.

The couple known as Richard and Cynthia Murphy said their names were Vladimir and Lydia Guryev, 44 and 39 years old.

Donald Howard Heathfield was actually Andrey Bezrukov, 49, Tracey Lee Ann Foley was Elena Vavilova, 47, and Juan Lazaro was really Mikhail Anatonoljevich Vasemkov, 66.

Vladimir Guryev told the court he had been in the United States since the early 1990s.

"I resided here under an assumed name and took direction from the Russian Federation and met with Russian officials and I did not register as a diplomat or foreign agent," he said.

Russian officials promised Pelaez she could go to any country, including her native Peru, with a monthly stipend of $2,000 for life plus visas for her children, her lawyer told the court.

The 10 suspects were sentenced to time already served -- 11 days since their arrests on June 27 -- and had separate charges of money-laundering dropped.

One of them, Anna Chapman, became a staple of the New York tabloid press, which splashed pictures of her across their pages and labeled her a party-hopping "sexy redhead" and a "Manhattan beauty."

Also known as Anya Kushchenko, the 28-year-old was arrested in Manhattan, where she ran a $2 million real estate business.

WAITING FOR SUTYAGIN

In Moscow, relatives anxiously awaited word from a jailed Russian scholar they said was to be sent to Vienna on Thursday in the first stage of the swap.

It was unclear whether Igor Sutyagin, convicted in 2004 of passing secrets to the West, had arrived in Austria as part of what his lawyer said Sutyagin was told would be a exchange forRussian agents arrested in the United States.

Sutyagin, a respected nuclear expert, was convicted in 2004 of passing classified military information to a British firm that Russian prosecutors said was a front for the CIA.

He said the information was available from open sources and his conviction cast a chill onRussian scientists.

Three of the prisoners Russia agreed to release were convicted of treason and serving long prison terms, Justice Department prosecutors said. Some were in poor health, and the Russian government agreed to release them and their family members for resettlement.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said the investigation was not done to gain a "bargaining chip" withRussia.

"With the arrests and guilty pleas in this case it would appear that the Russian Federation is unlikely to engage in this methodology in the future, and that is a good thing," Bharara told reporters.

"These arrests and prosecution send a message to every other intelligence agency that if you come to America and spy on Americans in America, you will be exposed and arrested."
